Paige approached me in December about doing a commission for her wedding anniversary.

Is there anything better than being in love during the springtime? Maybe being in love and eating pizza?

I could probably write a short story compilation on all of my most memorable moments from sitting in Sturgeon Hall. Some hilarious, some happy, some sad.

Amanda had contacted me earlier this year inquiring about my commission work. After some back and forth, she was torn over which building she wanted to have created. Both Sturgeon Hall and this home on Stockwell Avenue hold very special places in her heart.

March 7th 2020. I was invited to Cara’s cozy home for tea and to take reference photos for a commission. Reflecting on that rainy late Saturday morning feels like a dream given all that has happened with the pandemic this year.

This series is about two completely separate places in time. It is as much about running away for a week in February to explore San Francisco as it is about spending July and August in Kelowna creating a twelve piece series.

In the days following his abrupt departure, I began to paint. At first, abstracts on paper, with deep inks, soft pastels and metallic pigments. Similar to the body of work I had created in the late summer of 2018. What should have been a cathartic healing release wound up making me feel worse. The further I dug into this new body of work; the deeper I crawled into my own head, down a rabbit hole of misery.
