Structures

Jaclyn began sketching and painting structures in 2017, pulling from her large collection of photos from her many neighborhood walks as inspiration. Her first series, To Downtown Kelowna, With Love, features photos of the downtown area of now demolished buildings. Jaclyn is fascinated by architecture, garden landscapes and the way light plays with a space throughout the seasons. In a time where development is at an all time high, Jaclyn considers her structural paintings as a way of honoring history. This of course does not just limit her to the outside walls of a building, her 2020 series, Driftwood Lounge, is a seven piece series honoring a beloved Kelowna home in great detail, inside and out. To date she has painted over thirty Kelowna buildings and a series based on her photos from the San Francisco Area.
